Members of Slimming world attend a weekly session where they are able to discuss how their diet is going and any other health issues they may have, a weigh in also takes place at each session. Slimming world have centers and sessiona nationwide so there's no excuse for not attending the meetings.

How it works

Traditional methods of calorie counting are ignored by slimming world. Their diets are based upon the "food optimising" method which allows protein and carbohydrate in the same meals. Each day can be either an ordinary or a green day, green days are typically healthy filling foods such as chicken pasta and ordinary days are higher in protein as well as fruits and vegetables. You are also allowed between 10 & 15 Syns a day which are for the little snacks e.t.c we all like to pick at during the day, for example a bag of crisps is 7 syns.

 

Pros

Simple and easy to follow system. Works well with family eating and also entertaining. As long as you keep within your syn allowance your also allowed little bits that you fancy here and there.

 

Cons

You must regularly attend the weekly meetings. Weight loss is slow although steady.

 

Will it work?

This is the preferred and most sensible way of dieting. The diet is more about teaching you how to manage your food rather than a quick fix, reducing your weight for the rest of your life greatly improving the changes of sustaining a manageable weight.
